New HD Camera

Some of you may have already guessed, but we have changed the live feed on the main page. We are no longer looking at the osprey platform. Once the Canada Goose left, the osprey did not return to nest on the platform.

The new camera is pointed a different species. Anyone want to guess what new bird we are watching??

Goose is gone!

It appears as if the Canada Goose that was nesting on the Osprey platform has finished her time there and moved on. She was gone most of yesterday and I have yet to see her this morning. Hopefully the Osprey will begin nesting on the platform soon!! Keep your fingers crossed 🙂

Eggs of hatched!

I spotted the first gosling this morning! The Canada Goose eggs have begun to hatch. They will only stay on the nest for about a day or so before they all fledge, so be sure to watch!

Of course, after I spotted the one, it hid back under mom’s wings and I haven’t seen it since!! 🙂 Keep a sharp eye out!

Back for 2011!

We are back on the Word Press blog site for 2011 and Montana Osprey Cam is online again for the season! There is a Canada Goose currently on the nest, with eggs. We hope that she will be finished with her young and the nest in time for the osprey to use it for their own eggs. We have seen the osprey in the area, so be sure to check out the nearby trees to see if they are perching nearby!

Who’s Who in the Nest

The female Osprey (as with most raptors) is usually bigger than the male. Our two birds appear to be about the same size, but the female is slightly bulkier right now. However, his identification feature is only helpful when the two birds are side-by-side.

Another trait of female Osprey is a more speckled chest area, or brown streaking on the breast. The male of the species Read More…

Welcome…again.

Welcome to our NEW osprey camera blog.  The last blog site we were using wasn’t as user friendly as we hoped so we moved to this new one.  Feel free to leave us feedback on our new set-up and layout!
